Green Crusaders Of SWS

When it comes to environmental awareness, students these days are inquisitive and always ready with a “why” or “how” about things. Schools lead the way in creating this consciousness. Developing this sense of consciousness starts at school and it's pivotal that children grow up with the awareness to adapt a more sustainable lifestyle. Environmental Awareness is about being aware of the environment. This refers to all flora and fauna and includes all marine and wildlife. The planet is currently facing an increasing number of environmental challenges, which include climate change, global warming, melting glaciers, droughts, water scarcity, floods, and pollution.

Children, as early as possible, should be aware of the environmental issues we’re facing. To contribute our bit, we at Sanskar World School feel it is our responsibility to sensitize these young leaders toward environment protection, consequences of all the depleting resources and the importance of conserving and planting more trees. There have been some very innovative approaches and activities undertaken to cultivate environmental awareness in the school which are as follows:

  • Encouraging pupils to walk to reduce carbon foot print.
  • Introducing the 3 R’s: reduce waste, reuse resources, and recycle materials
  • Organizing tree planting days and various activities at school to help students understand the importance of afforestation.
  • Celebrating birthdays by donating or planting saplings.
  • Encouraging students to switch off all electronic appliances and lights when not in use.
  • Ensuring that the faucets are closed properly after students have used them and using water sparingly.
  • Avoiding plastic waste in the environment.
  • Practising rain water harvesting to support the conservation of water.
  • Protect the ozone layer by minimizing the usage of vehicles that cause pollution and by not using cleaning products that are harmful to the environment and to us.

It is in our hands where we can still save or destroy the environment. In the hope of a better future, the school works with its students and faculties to continue saving the environment and spreading awareness for the same.

After all, it has been aptly said that –
“Plans to protect air, water, wilderness and wildlife are in fact plans to protect man”.
